Cyprus route costs: car hire, taxi, bus and transfer, compared
A taxi from Larnaca Airport to Paphos is €105 by day and €125 at night for up to four people, fixed by law under Κ.Δ.Π. 79/2021. The bus is €15 a head with one change. Our entry car for the same four people is €245 for a week at the Paphos rate. Every figure below is dated and sourced.

Taxi is the fixed airport fare where the leg touches an airport and labelled an estimate where it does not. Bus is the operators' own fare multiplied by the party. Transfer is one named seller's published price on the date shown. Hire is our Nissan March at the Paphos rate for three and for seven days, plus the handover fee and fuel for the distance one way.

How is each column priced?
Four columns, four different kinds of number. A statutory fare, an operator's published fare, a seller's dated quote and our own price card do not decay at the same rate, and reading them as one thing is how most published answers to these questions go wrong.
- Taxi, airport legs. A taxi from the rank at Larnaca or Paphos Airport is on a fixed fare set by Κ.Δ.Π. 79/2021, published in the Official Gazette on 19 February 2021 and in force since 1 March 2021. One fare covers up to four passengers, a second covers five or six, day is 06:00 to 20:30 and night is 20:30 to 06:00. Luggage and VAT are included and the same fares apply on public holidays. The Road Transport Department still carries the instrument as current, with its page updated on 28 August 2026. Because the notice covers hires from and to the airports, the return leg is the same figure.
- Taxi, town legs. Paphos town to Ayia Napa touches no airport, so no fixed fare exists. We price it on the rural tariff the Deputy Ministry of Tourism publishes, €3.64 plus €0.63 a kilometre by day, and label it an estimate every time. An ordinary town hire runs on the urban meter instead, €3.80 plus €0.95 a kilometre by day since 1 August 2022, and that tariff gives the wrong answer for any airport run.
- Bus. The fare the operator prints on its own route or ticket page, per person, with the change point named where the journey needs one. Where two assemblies exist we price the one that starts where you are standing, and describe the cheaper one in words. No intercity bus calls at Larnaca Airport; the airport express to Limassol and urban route 425 into Larnaca town are the two ways off the terminal by bus.
- Pre-booked transfer. One named seller's published price for a four-seat car on the date shown, never linked. A per-person headline is usually a car price divided by four, so we print the car price and the party it carries.
- Hire from us. The Nissan March for up to four, the Toyota Sienta Hybrid for five or six, at the Paphos card rate for the whole hire length, plus the handover fee our own table sets for that collection point, plus fuel for the distance one way at the observatory's dearest Paphos pump. Not included: the optional damage waiver at €15 a day with a €300 excess, and any extra. Where we deliver to a town with no counter, the delivery charge is not published and the cell says so instead of guessing.

Is there Uber or Bolt in Cyprus?
Bolt, yes. Uber, no. On 8 September 2026 Bolt's own list of cities named Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Ayia Napa, and Uber's list of cities did not include Cyprus at all.
We do not print a Bolt fare. Its pricing is set in the app at the moment you book and is not published anywhere we can read and date, so any figure here would be invented. What the two lists settle is the question people actually type: you can open the Bolt app in all five towns, and you cannot open Uber.
A Bolt ride from an airport is not on the statutory tariff. The fixed fares in Κ.Δ.Π. 79/2021 bind licensed taxis hired from and to the airports; an app fare is whatever the app shows you.
When does hiring a car lose?
One person, one short leg from an airport into town. From Paphos Airport to Kato Paphos the fixed taxi fare is €20 by day and the bus is €2, while a one-day Nissan March is €65 plus a €20 airport collection fee plus fuel. The taxi wins by a distance and the bus wins by more.
The same is true of a solo traveller into Limassol from either airport at €55 or €60 by fixed fare, and of anyone who is not going to leave the resort. A hire car pays back when the party is three or four, when the stay runs to a week, or when the journey itself is the reason for the trip, which is why the seven-day column is on the table beside the three-day one.
The bus wins on price for one or two people on almost every leg here, and loses on the clock and on the last departure. The last weekday intercity bus from Larnaca town to Paphos leaves at 15:45; a taxi from the rank runs all night on a fare that is fixed before you get in.
- Solo, one airport leg, staying in one place: taxi from the rank, or the bus if you have time and little luggage.
- Two people for a long weekend near where you land: the fixed fare in, the fixed fare out, and no car.
- Three or four people for a week, or anyone planning to see the island: the hire car is the lower figure by the middle of the week, and it is the only column that leaves you with a car afterwards.
How were the distances and the fuel measured?
Road distances come from a routing engine over the OpenStreetMap road network, run on 8 September 2026 between published coordinates, and the fuel line uses the dearest Paphos district pump on the government observatory the same day.
Origins and destinations are fixed points so the figures can be checked: Larnaca Airport 34.8751, 33.6249; Paphos Airport 34.7180, 32.4857; Paphos town 34.7720, 32.4297; Kato Paphos 34.7550, 32.4070; Coral Bay 34.8544, 32.3760; Limassol New Port 34.6520, 33.0104; Ayia Napa 34.9884, 33.9994; Nicosia 35.1856, 33.3642. We do not print the engine's journey time, because a routing model's clock is a set of assumed speeds and runs long against every published drive time for these roads.
Fuel is priced at €1.709 a litre, the dearest of 38 unleaded 95 pumps the Consumer Protection Service observatory listed for Paphos district on 8 September 2026; the cheapest that day was €1.639. Consumption is a stated assumption of 6 litres per 100 km, which the calculator lets you change. It is not a claim about any particular car.
Our own figures come from the Paphos price card confirmed on 26 August 2026 and the handover fee table our company set on 2 September 2026. Three ladders on that card end on 30 November 2026 and are re-verified before then.

Questions people ask about getting around Cyprus
Answered from the instrument or the operator, with the date.
€105 by day, 06:00 to 20:30, and €125 at night for up to four passengers, or €135 and €160 for five or six. It is a fixed fare under Κ.Δ.Π. 79/2021, luggage and VAT included, the same on public holidays, and the same in the other direction. All three Paphos areas, Kato Paphos, Chlorakas and Coral Bay, are one fare from Larnaca.
€20 by day and €25 at night to Kato Paphos and up to the Tombs of the Kings for up to four people, fixed by the same instrument. Chlorakas to Kissonerga is €25 and €30, Coral Bay is €35 and €40. A pre-booked transfer for the same leg was quoted at €37.50 for three people by one seller and from €48 for four by another on the dates shown.
No. Uber's own list of the cities it operates in did not include Cyprus when we read it on 8 September 2026. Bolt does operate: its city list named Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Ayia Napa the same day. We print no Bolt fare, because the app sets it at the moment you book.
Not a direct one. No intercity bus calls at Larnaca Airport. The practical route is the Limassol Airport Express from the terminal to Limassol at €10, then the intercity bus from Limassol New Port to Paphos at €5, so €15 a head; or urban route 425 into Larnaca town at €2.70 and the intercity from there at €10, which is cheaper but runs four times on a weekday and once at a weekend.
The Kapnos Airport Shuttle runs direct from the terminal and its own post of 28 June 2026 puts a one-way adult ticket at €13. The intercity bus from Larnaca town is €5, about seventeen times a day, with route 425 from the airport into town at €2.70 in front of it.
Yes. The Limassol Airport Express runs from Paphos Airport to Agios Georgios Havouzas in Limassol five to seven times a day at €10 for an adult, on a timetable that is different for every day of the week. Its document is marked valid as of 1 July 2026. The fixed taxi fare for the same leg is €60 by day and €70 at night for up to four.

Our counters are in the Paphos area, at Paphos Airport and in Limassol. Nothing is held until we confirm.
Yes to both, at the night figure between 20:30 and 06:00. The instrument states that the fixed fares include luggage and VAT and that they apply on public holidays. The table dates from 2021 and the urban meter beside it was raised in August 2022; no superseding notice had been published by 5 September 2026, and we re-check before 1 March 2027.
