Give us the flight number and we meet the flight rather than a clock. Asking is not booking here, and that is how this market works: the local companies confirm by hand too, rather than selling you a car a database believes is free. Nothing is taken from your card while you wait, so there is nothing to cancel. Send this before 20:00 Cyprus time and you have our answer the same evening, later than that and you have it first thing in the morning. We answer between 08:00 and 23:00, Cyprus time.

Pick your dates and we check them against the fleet live, then show you what is available and what those exact days cost. No prepayment, and nothing is held until we confirm.

You are most likely reading this before a flight into Paphos rather than after landing. We are Rents in Cyprus LTD, based in Chlorakas, and we do not run a counter inside the terminal. We meet you in the arrivals area against the flight number you give us.

Car hire at Paphos Airport with us means a first-party handover: our own cars, from 65 euro for a day and 17 euro a day from 30 days, handed over in the arrivals area rather than at an in-terminal desk. There is no prepayment, the optional Collision Damage Waiver carries a flat 300 euro excess, and the meet-and-greet is free on rentals of five days or more.

Car hire at Paphos Airport with us, in short
  • Rates: one day from 65 euro, 65 to 160 euro by class, and 17 euro a day from 30 days, confirmed 26 August 2026
  • Excess: a flat 300 euro with the optional Collision Damage Waiver, on eligible bodywork
  • Deposit: no cash deposit with a valid credit card, and no prepayment at any stage
  • Handover: we meet you in the arrivals area, with no shuttle bus and no off-site yard
  • Free at five days or more: the airport meet-and-greet, a second driver, a baby seat, unlimited mileage
  • Age: cars from 21 to 90 on the pick-up date, licence held two years, surcharge from 74
  • Coverage: cars in five cities, but pick-up and drop-off in one, so no one-way drop at Larnaca

A car hired at this airport is handed over and returned in Paphos, so a drop-off at Larnaca is not something we do, even though we hire cars in Larnaca itself. Nothing is held until we confirm it with you in writing.

Third-party liability insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance are already in our rate. The waiver is the one optional addition.

Why the comparison sites look cheaper

If you have a comparison site open in another tab, you are looking at lower numbers than ours. On TravelSupermarket's own Paphos Airport page, read on 3 August 2026, mini cars showed from 6.88 pounds a day and economy from 7.32 pounds. Those headline numbers are lower than ours, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Three things they do not include. They are quoted for a driver aged 25 to 65, which is TravelSupermarket's own default filter. They are prepaid. And they carry no published excess figure, so the number that decides what a scratch costs you is missing from the screen.

That site also advertises a saving of up to 146 pounds. Its own footnote defines that as the greatest difference between the cheapest and the second cheapest quote for the same search. That is a spread between two prices, not a saving against a norm.

Book before the flight or on arrival? What the January numbers show

Book before you fly. Two independent signals point that way, and neither is a marketing line.

The first is demand. UK searches for a hire car at Paphos Airport run at 5,400 a month in January, according to DataForSEO figures pulled on 3 August 2026. That is exactly level with the 5,400 in August, when people are actually travelling, and it falls to 1,600 in December. January is a booking month rather than a travel month, and the people booking then are booking for summer.

The second is price. Kayak's own Paphos Airport data, read on 3 August 2026, put the typical small car at around 19 pounds a day. It stated that the best time to book is January, when prices average about 10 pounds a day, roughly 48 per cent less.

Now the qualifications, because they are what separate this from a countdown timer. A search-volume curve is not a price curve, and we are not presenting it as one. That 48 per cent is Kayak's figure about its own inventory rather than a measurement of the Paphos market. And our own rates vary by season and by rental length, but we have not committed a seasonal grid to writing, so we publish none and invent none. Send us your dates and we quote the real figure.

One more finding, stated because it is true rather than because it helps us. On TravelSupermarket, on 3 August 2026, the airport was cheaper than Paphos town in every class we checked. A mini was 6.88 pounds against 10.86, an economy car 7.32 against 11.83, a compact 10.15 against 12.87. The common advice to avoid picking up at the airport did not hold in Paphos that day.

Demand figures from DataForSEO, pulled 3 August 2026. Price observation read from Kayak the same day, named and not linked.

From wheels-down to keys: what actually happens at Paphos Airport

The sequence for a car booked with us runs like this.

  1. 01.Before you fly, send us the flight number with your enquiry so we can track the landing, along with the class you want and your dates. Nothing is held until we confirm it in writing.
  2. 02.On the day, Paphos has one terminal building, which two sources in this market state plainly and the airport operator's own page does not mention. There is one arrivals hall and no wrong one to end up in.
  3. 03.Clear passport control and collect your bags. The desk queue forms where the airport operator says the in-terminal desks sit, and the link below is that operator's own page.
  4. 04.We are not one of those desks, so you do not join that queue. You meet a person in the arrivals area instead. There is no shuttle bus and no transfer to an off-site yard. Both off-airport operators that rank for this search run one, and Green Motion tells you to walk straight ahead to parking number 5 to find its shuttle.
  5. 05.At the handover, in this order: your original driving licence, held at least two years and not a photocopy; the passport or identity card this market asks for as standard; then a card. With a valid credit card there is no cash deposit with us.
  6. 06.Then the damage check on the car together before you drive, and the fuel level noted, because the policy is full to full.

Where the desks sit, in the airport operator's own words: Hermes Airports places the in-terminal rental desks in the Arrivals, after exiting the Baggage Reclaim area. That page carries no last-updated date of its own, so the date attached to it here is the date we read it, 3 August 2026.

One timing consequence to carry into the next section. The published desk hours differ from each other, so a 23:00 landing does not meet the same set of open desks as a 13:00 one.

Not sure you want a car for the whole trip? The bus, a taxi on the fixed airport tariff, a transfer and driving yourself are priced side by side in our guide to getting from Paphos Airport into Paphos, with the dates every figure was read.

For any other Cyprus journey, our route cost comparator prices the taxi on the fixed airport tariff, the bus, a dated transfer quote and a hire car from us, for your party and your dates.

In-terminal desk or off-airport: which one to pick, and when the desk wins

Neither answer wins on everything. This is the split as we read it on 3 August 2026.

Five companies hold desks inside the terminal, and the airport operator names them: Avis and Budget, Hertz, Europcar, SIXT and Petsas. Hermes Airports lists them in Arrivals after Baggage Reclaim, with a phone number for each.

The count is contested, and you should know that. Hermes lists five. AutoEurope tables four of them with opening hours. TravelSupermarket names seven, adding Astra Car Rental, which Hermes does not list. We publish the operator's five, note that other names appear elsewhere, and do not assert a total.

The published desk hours, and where they came from

The hours are the useful part, and this is the only place we have seen them together. All four readings below were read on 3 August 2026. Sixt publishes its own hours, and AutoEurope's desk table agrees with them. The other three rows come from AutoEurope alone, so they are a broker's observation rather than the airport's.

When a desk is the better answer
  • You want a counter you can walk up to without phoning anyone.
  • You want a national brand's damage-waiver product bundled into the booking.
  • You want a one-way drop at another Cypriot airport.
  • You want a car at 04:00 with nothing arranged in advance.
When we are the better answer
  • No counter, so there is no counter to be shut when you land late.
  • No shuttle bus and no off-site yard between the terminal and the car.
  • A handover arranged against your flight number rather than against opening hours.
  • Free delivery to hotels and villas across the Paphos area, at any rental length.

Four of the six best-placed local businesses on this search sit in Timi, the village beside the airport. Ours is in Chlorakas, on the far side of Paphos, which is exactly why we drive to you.

Our full Paphos terms and the local market sit on the Paphos car hire page.

Ask About A Late Landing

The deposit, the card and the excess at a Paphos Airport pickup

The excess is the part of a damage bill you pay yourself before the waiver takes over. The deposit is a different thing: money held against your card while you have the car. Ours are 300 euro and nothing, in that order, and the rest of this section is what sits behind those two numbers.

With a valid credit card there is no cash deposit with us, subject to approval, vehicle category and rental conditions. Where those are not met, a refundable deposit or a card pre-authorisation may be held instead. There is no prepayment at any stage: you pay on pick-up, in cash or by card.

The Collision Damage Waiver is optional. Take it and the excess is a flat 300 euro on eligible bodywork. It excludes off-road use, tyres, glass, the underbody, the interior and the keys.

ItemOursObserved at this airport, checked 3 August 2026
Excess with the waiver300 euro, flat, on eligible bodyworkZest includes excess protection in every quote; Sixt bundles a damage waiver and publishes no excess figure
Cash depositNone with a valid credit cardAutoEurope requires a credit card in the main driver's name
Debit cardOur terms say nothing about them, so we claim nothingTravelSupermarket states many companies refuse them, even on a pre-booked reservation
PrepaymentNone. You pay on pick-upThe comparison-site route is prepaid
Handover outside 09:00 to 17:3030 euro at the airport outside 09:00 to 17:30, charged for each end that falls outside it
Airport deliveryFree from 5 days, 20 euro on a shorter hire, inside 09:00 to 17:30

That is a loss against part of this market, so here it is stated. Zest includes excess protection in every quote, and Sixt bundles a damage waiver into the booking without publishing an excess figure at all. If a zero-excess product is the thing you want, we are not it.

The card is a more common blocker at this airport than the price. AutoEurope requires a credit card in the name of the main driver. Green Motion requires a valid credit card alongside licence and passport. TravelSupermarket states that many companies will not accept a debit card, even on a booking made in advance. Our own terms say nothing about debit cards, so this page does not claim we take them. Ask us before you fly.

Whether to buy separate excess cover from a third party is a different question, and our car hire excess insurance guide answers it, including where buying from someone else beats buying from us.

What the waiver actually pays for, what it leaves you liable for, and whether a separate excess policy is worth buying are set out in full in our guide to car hire excess in Cyprus.

Age, licence and the documents the handover asks for

We hire cars to drivers aged 21 and over who have held a licence for at least two years, and we need the original document rather than a photocopy.

Cars from 21

With the licence held at least two years.

The original licence

Not a photocopy, and in the driver's own name.

No young-driver surcharge in our terms

That is what the price list states, not a promise that one can never apply.

We hire to 90, with a surcharge from 74

No surcharge to 73, then 15% on the rental line from 74 to 75 and 30% from 76 to 90. Over 90 we cannot hire. Confirmed 2 September 2026.

A passport or identity card

Asked for at the handover, which is the market standard at this airport.

Be careful with the age story you may have read on town-level pages, including ours. At the airport the picture is different. Sixt publishes a minimum of 21, with an underage fee that may apply. TravelSupermarket states the airport norm as 21 with a licence held three years, plus a surcharge under 25. Our narrower and more useful difference is the tenure. Two years, not three.

On licences, an EU or EEA driving licence that is valid for life is recognised in every EU country. That is the EU's own guidance, and the page states it was last checked on 12 December 2025.

For a licence issued outside the EU, the same page says only that some EU countries may recognise licences issued in a number of non-EU countries. It adds that international driving permits are not regulated at EU level and may not be recognised. That is as far as a verified source takes us, so we do not state a Cyprus-specific rule here. Our driving in Cyprus guide will carry the statute with the sourcing it needs. If your licence was issued outside the EU, check with us before you book.

What the rate includes, and the four things that become free at five days

Third-party liability insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance are in the rate, and every car we hire is an automatic.

The five-day threshold is the term that matters most on this page, because the meet-and-greet is the part an airport arrival is actually buying. Our price list records it as free on rentals of five days or more, and it does not record an arrangement for shorter rentals at the airport. So we are not going to invent one in either direction: if your trip is one to four days and you want to be met at Paphos Airport, call us and ask.

The late-return figure is worth reading against a departing flight rather than against a desk.

The full Paphos terms are on the Paphos car hire page rather than repeated here.

Comparison-site and desk terms as published on their own pages, read 3 August 2026. Named, never linked.

TravelSupermarket wins first, and it wins on real things. Its headline daily rates at Paphos Airport are lower than ours. It covers the whole island where we hire cars in five cities. It compares suppliers that we do not compare for you. And it will sell you a desk inside Larnaca Airport and a one-way drop there, neither of which we do.

A desk wins when you want a counter in the building at an hour two of them publish as 24-hour, a national brand's own waiver product, and nothing arranged in advance.

Direct gets you one excess figure known before you book, no prepayment at all, a handover arranged against your flight number, and a person who can assess an edge case. That last one is concrete rather than rhetorical. A 21-year-old with two years on their licence, and an 84-year-old with fifty, are both a phone call for us. Both also sit outside the 25-to-65 age filter TravelSupermarket applies by default to the quote on screen.

One caveat keeps the first point fair. Those headline rates are quoted for that filtered driver, they are prepaid, and they carry no published excess figure. TravelSupermarket also states its prices update every two hours and may have changed by the time you click through.

We should be plain about the money. We hire out our own vehicles, so there is no commission on this page, no affiliate link and no third party in the transaction. If you want a survey of operators across Cyprus rather than our own fleet, that is a comparison guide's job and not ours.

Five things that go wrong at a Paphos Airport pickup

Each of these is checkable, and each has a fix.

  1. 01.A late landing meets a different set of open desksOn 3 August 2026, two Paphos Airport desks published 24-hour opening and one published 08:00 to 21:00. One published a closing time that varies by night of the week, and two published nothing. If you land at 23:00, check your supplier's hours before you fly rather than after. With us there is no counter to be shut, because the handover is arranged against your flight number.
  2. 02.The card is a more common blocker than the priceA credit card in the main driver's name is the market standard here and debit cards are widely refused. Ask before you fly.
  3. 03.A one-way to Larnaca is not something we doZest sells Paphos Airport to Larnaca and to Limassol, with a provider-set fee. Since August 2026 we hire cars in Limassol, Larnaca, Nicosia and Ayia Napa ourselves, but never as a one-way: pick-up and drop-off are in the same city, and a return to the wrong location is charged from 300 euro. So a car collected at Paphos Airport comes back to Paphos. If your trip ends at Larnaca, hire the car in Larnaca and we will bring it to the address you give us there, or book the one-way with a company that sells one.
  4. 04.The return is timed against your departing flight, not against a deskLate return is 100 euro plus 20 euro for each started hour. Fuel is full to full, so the last stop before the airport is a fuel station.
  5. 05.Driving north of the Green LineUnder our terms that needs our prior permission, separate insurance for the northern part, and the required documentation. Without those three, crossing is an exclusion. Our driving in Cyprus guide owns the topic.

This is general information, not legal or financial advice. Rental terms, excess and deposits change, so confirm with us before you book. Last verified: 3 August 2026.

Frequently asked questions

When to book, a late landing, the deposit, the desk hours, the documents, the Larnaca drop-off, the meet-and-greet and the transmission, answered from our own terms and from dated observations.

In advance. UK demand for this search peaks at 5,400 a month in January, level with August. Kayak's own Paphos Airport data put January at about 10 pounds a day against a typical 19 pounds, roughly 48 per cent less. Both figures were read on 3 August 2026. Demand is not price, and our own seasonal variation is not something we have quantified in writing, so ask us for your dates.

Desk hours differ. On 3 August 2026, two of the in-terminal desks published 24-hour opening, one published 08:00 to 21:00, one published a closing time varying by night, and two published nothing at all. Our handover is arranged against your flight number, so there is no counter to be shut.

With a valid credit card there is no cash deposit, subject to approval, vehicle category and rental conditions. Otherwise a refundable deposit or a card pre-authorisation may be held. There is no prepayment at any point: you pay on pick-up, in cash or by card.

Not all of them. On 3 August 2026, two published 24-hour opening and one published 08:00 to 21:00 seven days a week. One published a closing time between 12.30am and 2.30am depending on the night, and two published no hours. The airport operator lists the five desks but no hours at all.

Your original driving licence rather than a photocopy, held at least two years, plus a passport or identity card. Bring a card as well. A credit card in the driver's name is the market standard at this airport, and debit cards are widely refused elsewhere. With a valid credit card there is no cash deposit with us.

No. We hire cars in Limassol, Larnaca, Nicosia and Ayia Napa as well as Paphos, but never as a one-way, so a car collected here comes back here and a return to the wrong location is charged from 300 euro. If the trip ends in Larnaca, hire the car there instead and we will bring it to the address you give us. Zest does sell Paphos Airport to Larnaca and to Limassol as a one-way, so book with a company that sells your route if you need the car for both ends.

It is free on rentals of five days or more, along with unlimited mileage, a second driver and a baby seat on request. Our price list does not record an arrangement for shorter rentals at the airport, so call us with your dates rather than assuming either way.

Yes, every car we hire is an automatic, from the Nissan March upwards. One day in it is 65 euro and it is 17 euro a day from 30 days. Confirmed 26 August 2026.
