Do you need a hire car in Cyprus?

For a week in one resort, no: Paphos, Larnaca, Limassol and Protaras all work on foot plus a bus. For anything inland, anything multi-base, anything involving a village, yes, and it is not close. Cyprus has no train or underground system and no ferry to anywhere else, so the alternative is buses and taxis and nothing more.
