Manager, Rents in Cyprus LTD

Paul Bendzik

I manage the company that owns the cars on this site. I write the guides, I am one of the people who set the rates on the hire pages, and most weeks I am one of the people handing somebody a key at the airport. This page is here so you can see who that is before you take my word for anything.

What I actually do here

I manage Rents in Cyprus LTD, registered in Cyprus as HE 448739, with its office at Griva Digeni 55 in Chlorakas, a few minutes north of Paphos town. The cars on this site are ours. Nobody pays us a commission to send you somewhere else, because there is nowhere else to send you.

The work is not abstract. We meet people at Paphos airport, at Kato Paphos and at Coral Bay, walk round the car with them, explain the deposit and the excess before they sign anything, and take the keys back a week later with whatever the week did to the car. Several of us do that and most weeks I am one of them, which is worth saying plainly: it is how the company works rather than a habit of mine, so it does not stop being true on the days you meet a colleague instead. Since August 2026 we hire in Limassol too, which is where I live.

So when a page here says a deposit is held on a card, or that a scratch is argued about at handover rather than by email a month later, that is not research. That is Tuesday.

What I write, and what I do not sign

There are two kinds of page on this site and they are written by different rules. The guides carry my name, are written in the first person, and say what I would tell you if you asked me in the office. The hire pages carry no name at all: they are the company's rates and the company's terms, and putting a personal byline on a price list would suggest a price is somebody's opinion.

One person writes the guides here, in every language the site is published in. The German and Polish versions are not a different writer with a local name invented for the market. They are the same pages, researched for what that market actually asks about, and they carry the same byline for the same reason a newspaper does.

What I know first-hand, and what I look up

The honest version of an author bio

Most rental sites imply the author has done everything. I would rather write down where the line is, so you can tell which sentences on this site are experience and which are reading.

Three things I know because I do them:

  • Running the fleet. Handovers, deposits, excess claims, damage arguments, the paperwork, and what people are genuinely caught out by rather than what a blog says they are caught out by.
  • Driving in Cyprus. The roads, the roundabouts, parking in Paphos and Limassol, where fuel is cheaper, and what happens at the crossings to the north.
  • Riding buggies, quads and scooters here, on roads and on tracks.

Everything else on this site is looked up, and it is looked up properly. Road rules, fines, licence categories, insurance law and anything else that costs you money or breaks the law goes on a page only with two sources behind it, at least one of them a government source, and the date I checked. Where two official sources disagree, both numbers are printed. Where I could not reach a primary source, the number is left out and the page says so. I do not have opinions about what the law says.

One thing I will not claim

We do not hire quads. One is on order and nothing about it is confirmed yet: not the model, not the day rate, not the deposit, and not which licence category it needs, which the local trade cannot even agree on. I have ridden quads here. The company has never rented one to anybody.

That is why the quad page on this site carries no price, no photograph of a machine and no booking button. It answers the question and tells you we cannot yet take your money for it. When that changes, the page will change, and the date on it will change with it.

How a number gets onto a page

Our own rates come from our own price list, and each table says the day it was confirmed. No table on this site is a live quote: a printed figure is a starting rate for a class, and the real number for your dates comes out of the reservation page, which reads the same price list for the exact days you asked for. Whichever route you take, nothing is held until we confirm it with you.

Prices we quote from other companies are read from their own published pages on a stated date, and they are never linked. The method is written out in full on its own page, including what we do when a rate moves between checks.

How we verify our rates

Tell me when I am wrong

Prices move, government pages get rewritten, and a figure that was right in August is wrong by December. If something here is out of date, or if you were charged something a page told you not to expect, email me and say so.

Corrections get made and the check date on the page gets moved, visibly. A site that edits a number quietly and leaves last year's date sitting above it is telling you something about how much the date was worth in the first place.

Where else to find me

One profile, so you can confirm the person on this page is a real one and not a stock photograph with a name under it.

Ask me before you book, not after

If you want to know what a car actually costs for your dates, what the deposit will be, or whether you need a car at all for the trip you are planning, phone or write. I would rather talk you out of a rental you do not need than take a booking you regret. Nothing is held until we confirm it with you.
